The AX4-5 can support up to four expansion enclosures spanning up to 60 hard drives that can be a mix of 2.5-inch Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), 3.5-inch SAS and 3.5-inch Serial ATA (SATA). With the ability to provide consolidated storage for up to 64 hosts, the AX4-5 can provide the headroom that will keep up with your data and application growth.
With both 1 Gb Internet SCSI (iSCSI) and 4 Gb Fibre Channel models, the AX4-5 enables you to choose a network interconnect that is right for your organization's environment and needs.
New Capabilities
The AX4-5F comes with two or four 4 Gb (FC4) ports per controller, which enables more hosts to be directly connected to the array. This capability potentially eliminates the need for a Fibre Channel switch for smaller storage area network (SAN) implementations and provides increased throughput.
Both AX4-5 models now support 2.5-inch 10,000 rpm SAS hard drives. These drives are attractive for those looking to reduce power-related expenses and up-front costs versus 3.5-inch SAS drives.
