The R805 is Dell’s 2-socket platform designed for virtualization solutions leveraging the full benefits of external storage environments. Featuring up to 128GB of memory, the R805 enables more robust applications to be hosted on a single server. This memory and processing power is coupled with I/O scalability to support broad bandwidth for iSCSI or fibre channel storage environments. This balanced combination allows organizations to cost-effectively scale their hardware to meet the demands of memory-bound applications such as Microsoft® SQL®, Microsoft Exchange® Server 2007 and many others.

The R805 features include 2 AMD Opteron™ quad-core processors, up to 16 DIMM slots, 4 I/O slots, 4 embedded NICs, internal I/O fabric options, 2 hot-plug hard drives, hot-plug redundant power and cooling, optional embedded RAID, optional advanced remote management and choice of embedded hypervisor.
