With Dell Compellent Storage Center 6.3 array software, Dell is announcing the most significant update to its Compellent software since the 64-bit architecture announced with version 6.0 in January 2012. Combining the new Storage Center 6.3 software with the latest Compellent SC8000 controllers, customers can increase performance up to 100 percent over previous array software when running enterprise workloads.

Also, with this release, Dell is the first storage provider to announce end-to-end 16Gb Fibre Channel capability — from server to switch to storage — doubling bandwidth and speeding access to business critical applications and data. Enterprise-level additions include expanded Microsoft Server 2012 support, multi-site replication flexibility with synchronous replication enhancements, Active Directory and LDAP support for enhanced security, and more.

Dell PowerVault MD3 Software Enhancements

New Dell PowerVault MD3 Series array software enhancements provide enhanced data protection, performance, capacity and virtualization capabilities while maintaining up to “five nines” availability for Dell’s affordable, high performance PowerVault MD3 series arrays. Customers can benefit from a new Dynamic Disk Pools (DDP) feature that distributes data and spare capacity across an entire pool and can eliminate the need for RAID management. In the event of a drive failure, DDP can allow users to get the system back to an optimal state faster than previous RAID 6 configurations.

Additionally, this new software release brings to PowerVault MD3 arrays several new features including thin provisioning, expanding a-synchronous remote replication for IP networks, SSD cache that increases execution speed of applications by caching frequently read data, and VMware vStorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI) support for tighter integration with VMware environments.

Click For Larger Image	Dell PowerVault DL4000 Optimized for small to medium enterprises, the Dell PowerVault DL4000 is Dell’s first backup appliance based on Dell AppAssure software. With 5.5 terabytes of internal storage capacity, this 1U turnkey appliance offers a fast and complete backup and disaster recovery solution with established snapshot, replication, de-duplication and compression software for efficient use of backup capacity.
Users can deploy the backup system in minutes with automated set-up tools and can benefit from hosting two virtual standby machines that protect critical applications for up to two servers, offering quick disaster recovery.
	Quest NetVault Backup 9.0 Only a few weeks since its Quest acquisition, Dell will bring to market Quest NetVault Backup 9.0 data protection software, which integrates with NetVault Extended Architecture (NetVault XA) and features a new graphical user interface and a set of shared services to unite multiple Quest data protection technologies for simpler management.
The new software enables organizations to simplify data protection while protecting critical applications in physical and virtual heterogeneous environments. NetVault’s cross-platform capabilities are expanded to Windows Server 2012 and Novell Open Enterprise Server 11, while Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V and VMware vSphere® enhancements offer improved functionality, performance and scalability. The addition of native replication to the NetVault SmartDisk deduplication solution helps streamline offsite data storage and disaster recovery.
Click for Larger Image	Dell PowerVault DL2300 For large environments, the Dell PowerVault DL2300 is Dell’s latest enterprise-class data protection appliance that combines Dell PowerEdge 12th generation servers with CommVault Simpana 9 modern data protection software to offer data backup, recovery, replication, archiving and de-duplication for both physical and virtual servers in one easy-to-set-up, pre-tested solution.
The new appliances, with a maximum storage capacity of 480 terabytes, incorporate latest generation processor and memory capabilities to optimize de-duplication database configurations for higher backup performance. Users can save administrative time with built-in, policy-based automation for managing backup and archiving.
