Dell Encryption Enterprise\Dell Data Protection Enterprise Edition System Requirements

Hardware and software requirements need to be addressed prior to installing Dell Encryption Enterprise (formerly Dell Data Protection | Enterprise Edition).

Affected Products:

Dell Encryption Enterprise
Dell Data Protection | Enterprise Edition Shield

Affected Versions:

8.0.0 and Later

Server Infrastructure

Dell Encryption Enterprise requires Dell Security Management Server (formerly Dell Data Protection Server) for policy and key management.

Minimum Hardware Requirements

  • Intel Pentium or AMD Processor
  • 110 MB of free disk space
  • 512MB RAM
Note: Additional free disk space is required to encrypt the files on the endpoint. This size varies based on policies and size of drive.

Network Requirements

Dell Encryption Enterprise requires network connectivity to the Dell Security Management Server.

Note: By default Dell Security Management Server uses ports:
  • 8443 for activations and port.
  • 8000 for policy communication.
  • 8449 for certificate communication (server client installation only).

Dell Encryption Enterprise for Server requires direct communication to the Dell Security Management Server back-end configuration.

If Dell Encryption Enterprise uses On-the-Box (OTB) entitlements (licenses) then cloud.dell.com over port 443 must be whitelisted.

External Media Requirements

Peripheral storage devices protected by Dell Encryption External Media require:

  • 55MB + free disk space equal to the largest file size
  • Plug and Play (PnP) identifier
  • File System:
    • FAT32
    • exFAT
    • NTFS

Software Requirements

Click on the appropriate product version for specific software requirements.

Note:
  • Operating system compatibility for storage devices protected by Dell Encryption External Media is based on the product version.
