Venue 8 7840 Over-The-Air (OTA) update is talking a long time to complete

This article provides the information on "Venue 8 7840 Over-The-Air (OTA) update is talking a long time to complete".

Over-The-Air (OTA) Taking a long time.

The OTA update time increases with the upgrade from Android 4.4.x (KitKat) to Android 5.x (Lollipop). The expected update time is approximately 5 minutes, but this time will vary from system to system due to connection speed and other variables.

You may experience this increased update time with any future full OTA (partial OTAs should be quicker). A popup window will appear to inform customers of the progress. (see image below)

What is going on.

The long time needed for this OTA is because the update to Lollipop requires a significant change to the file system. The system should not be interrupted during the update. It will complete and function normally.

The long update period is not due to any system fault. This is working as designed.
