This article provides information on resetting the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) Repository in Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2, and Windows 2012.
When opening the Broadcom Advanced Control Suite the following error is displayed in the bottom left corner; "Unable to connect to localhost. localhost is not found in this system"
Rebuild the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Repository and reinstall the latest Broadcom driver.
1. Open an administrator cmd window.
2. Run the following command: "winmgmt /resetrepository"
3. Reinstall the latest Broadcom driver available from the support.dell.com website.
For instructions on installing the latest Broadcom driver refer to the following article: How to update Broadcom drivers and firmware
This issue appears to be caused by corruption of the Broadcom specific WMI entries.
It may be required to reinstall/reconfigure some 3rd party applications if they do not use the #pragma autorecover statement.
