LC 1.4: Cannot Export Lifecycle Log to USB Device using Virtual Media

Question

NOTE: This problem only happens for some USB keys.

Steps to re-create:
  1. Connect USB key to the Management Station.
  2. Launch iDRAC GUI and Virtual KVM.
  3. ON VKVM Console, click on Virtual Media, then Launch Virtual Media.
  4. Attach Virtual USB key to Console.
    (Select USB Device instead of Network Share)


Expected result: The USB key/drive can be chosen as the destination for exporting the lifecycle log.

Actual result: An error is displayed when the USB device is selected.

Note: The Virtual USB device is attached successfully and data can be read from the Virtual USB device.



Answer

Workaround: Export the lifecycle log to a physical device attached to the managed system or export the lifecycle log to a network share.

Solution: This is fixed in the current release of Lifecycle Controller.
