1. Removal Guide

CRUs (Customer Replaceable Units) are the parts of the system that shouldn't need an engineer to remove or replace. This guide includes pictures to reference the processes involved.

If this guide does not cover the part that you need to remove, then you will need to reference your System Manual.

2. Removal Instructions

Required Tools

1 Small Phillip's head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small Flat head screwdriver

Note : Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without speciality tools, that aren't available to our onsite engineers.
  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

  2. Establishing image

  1. Slide the battery release latches to the unlock position

  1. Flip the battery out of the system

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the SIM Card:

    1. Remove the Battery

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Press in on the SIM card to release it

  1. Slide the SIM card out of the system

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Bottom Door:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Loosen the single captive screw securing the bottom door in place

  1. Slide the bottom door towards the front of the system and lift it away from the system

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Memory :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Bottom Door

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Gently pry the securing clips away from the Memory

  1. Remove the memory from its slot

Note: DIMM A slot is the closest to the processor. If there is another memory module installed in the DIMM B slot that needs to be removed, repeat step 3 and 4.

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Hard Drive:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Bottom Door

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Remove the two screws that secure the hard drive and bracket in place

  1. Remove the hard drive bracket

  1. Grasp the mylar tab beside the WLAN card and gently pull it upward to release the hard drive from its compartment

  1. Lift the hard drive away from the system

  1. Remove the hard drive connector

  1. Gently pry off the hard drive isolation bumpers

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WLAN Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Bottom Door

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Disconnect any antennae that may be connected to the WLAN card

Note: The WLAN antennae are a solid colour while the WWAN antennae are striped

  1. Remove the single screw securing the WLAN Card

  1. Remove the WLAN card from the system

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WWAN Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Bottom Door

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Disconnect any antennae that may be connected to the WWAN card

Note: The WLAN antennae are a solid color while the WWAN antennae are striped

  1. Remove the screw that secures the WWAN card to the system

  1. Remove the WWAN card from the system

  1. Complete

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Bluetooth Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and Bottom Door

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Disconnect the Bluetooth cable from the system

  1. Unthread the Bluetooth cable from its holder

  1. Remove the single screw securing the Bluetooth card and its holder

  1. Remove the Bluetooth from the system

  1. Peel off the Bluetooth holder from the Bluetooth module

  1. Disconnect the Bluetooth cable from the Bluetooth module

  1. Complete
