How to Remove the Latitude ON Flash Module, Modem, WLAN card and WWAN card on a Dell Latitude E6510 system

This article provides information on how to remove the access panel, modem, WLAN card and WWAN card on the Dell Latitude E6510.

Note: During installation or removal of any hardware, always ensure all data is backed up properly, disconnect any telephone, network or USB cables from the computer and disconnect the computer and any attached devices from their electrical outlets.

1. Removing the Modem

  1. Pre-removal Instructions:
    • Remove the battery.
    • Remove the access panel.

  2. Remove the single screw securing the modem to the system.

  3. Using the Mylar tab lift the modem up.

  4. Disconnect the modem cable and remove modem from the system.

  5. Complete.

2. Removing the WLAN card

  1. Pre-removal instructions
    • Remove the battery.
    • Remove the access panel.
    • Remove the hinge covers.

  2. Unthread the LCD cable.

  3. Disconnect the antennae that connected to the WLAN card.

  4. Remove the screw securing the WLAN card in the system.

  5. Remove the WLAN card from the system.

  6. Complete.

3. Removing the WWAN card

  1. Pre-removal Instructions:
    • Remove the battery.
    • Remove the access panel.

  2. Disconnect the 2 antennae from the WWAN card.

  3. Remove the screw securing the WWAN card in the system.

  4. Remove the WWAN card from the system.

  5. Complete.
