Setting up the FX170 with DeTOS Operating System

NOTE: Dell does not support changing the embedded OS from what was factory installed.

NOTE: Hardware configurations cannot be changed in the field. If a different OS is needed, customer has to contact Dell and reorder a correct OS.

Setting up the FX170 with DeTOS Operating System

  1. Plug the power cord into the power adapter, plug the cord from the brick to the power connector on the terminal and plug the power cord into a known working outlet.

  2. Upon plugging in the power cord a green light should light up on the adapter itself.

  3. Connect your monitor's cable firmly to the thin client (Or DVI/VGA splitter if needed) and the monitor itself making sure all connections are securely fastened.

  4. Plug in your USB Keyboard & Mouse (Or PS/2 Keyboard & Mouse if using a PS/2 Splitter)

  5. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port at the user's workspace and to the Ethernet port on the terminal itself.

  6. Press the power button on the terminal.

  7. As DETOS boots up for the first time you will select “Accept” on the end user's license agreement screen to continue.

  8. You will then boot to a blank DETOS desktop with a system tray and DETOS button.

  9. Select the Blue DETOS button in the lower left hand side of the screen and select the Control Panel Option.

  10. An IP address will be displayed at the bottom of the DETOS control Panel if received.
