Fully Automated Storage Tiering (FAST): Designed to enable more efficient storage resource utilization by analyzing the activity of data with a LUN. More active data chunks are moved to faster drives in the array, like 15K FC or EFD drives. Less active chunks are moved to slower drives, like SATA. Once activated, FAST automatically moves data chunks across drives in a way that is transparent to applications.
Fast Cache: enables Enterprise Flash Disks to be used as non-volatile, second level read-only or read/write system cache to transparently optimize performance for all applications using the array, benefitting especially IOPS intensive workloads.
