The Impact of OS/Platform Selection on the Cost of ERP Implementation, Use and Management - Executive Summary - This paper provides an executive summary of the results of a study performed by the META Group in which they analyzed and compared the actual Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of various Operating System (O/S) environments supporting operational Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. This summary highlights the results of Part 1 of this study in which META focused their comparison to the Sun Solaris, Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 2000 O/S environments. They collected data from over 400 respondents and based on this data determined that Windows NT and Windows 2000 have a lower Total Cost of Ownership than Sun Solaris in ERP environments.
