Challenge

In addition to its normal workload of supporting the City of Austin’s increasing population, the city’s Communications and Technology Management department was suddenly tasked with providing technology resources for thousands of New Orleans evacuees relocated to Austin after Hurricane Katrina.

Solution

The department created a Technology Response Team consisting of volunteers, non-profit organizations, and technology vendors—including Dell—that can be called on immediately in the event of a disaster.
