Indiana Office of Technology

“The OptiPlex 755 desktops come with vPro technology and the SMS console for remote diagnostics and repair. They also have the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which will give our users the power to run new, specialized applications that some of our agencies are developing.”

- Paul Baltzell, director, Indiana Office of Technology, United States

Challenge

Indiana’s Office of Technology (IOT) faced an aging, diverse PC fleet, ineffective remote management technologies, and a complex IT environment that made management difficult and drove up support costs.

Solution

IOT standardized the state’s PCs on DellTM  OptiPlexTM  desktops based on the Intel®  Core 2TM Duo processor with Intel®  vProTM  technology.

Benefit

• Run IT Better: IOT expects to speed problem resolution by 90 percent for software issues and 30 percent for hardware issues; by resolving trouble tickets faster
• Grow IT Smarter: IOT calculates that using the PCs with vPro technology to enhance manageability provides the state with the potential to reduce IT costs by over US$345,000 annually; the new desktops are expected to save the state another US$307,000 in power costs each year
