Malware Attacks Prevention

There are many different threats generally termed "malware":
  • Software is considered malware based on the perceived intent of the creator rather than any particular features. It includes computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, most rootkits, spyware, dishonest adware, and other malicious and unwanted software or information (spam).
  • The second aspect to malicious threats is linked to communication. Unsecured communication can be captured and eventually reverse engineered to obtain data, passwords or network settings information. These could then be used to bypass other security aspects and lead to a data theft.
Dell offers factory-installed OEM versions of proven anti-virus software to help prevent malicious attacks. They can be updated to full versions for expanded protection or replaced by other corporate software.

Select DellTM  LatitudeTM , OptiPlexTM  and Dell PrecisionTM  systems are also equipped with Intel®  Advanced Management Technology, which enables client isolation and out-of-band monitoring and helps patch and update software to the latest version. Dell OptiPlex 960 systems equipped with latest Intel® vProTM  technology offer additional features to help prevent malicious attacks or enable system remote recovery such as "Call for Help" or Microsoft®  NAT support. "Call for Help" is an Intel vPro feature available on OptiPlex 960.

Dell business clients also support various security protocols for wireless communication, such as WEP or WPA, which can help prevent other laptops from capturing your communication.

Based on TPM, WAVE®  EMBASSY®  Trust Suite can help strengthen VPN authentication and communication to allow for more secure remote computing.

For additional security needs, Dell can provide managed client solutions or enterprise solutions such as server-based end-point protection suites like firewall/security gateways or detection systems.
