Move to Windows Vista with Confidence

Windows Vista Small Business Assurance is an offer designed to help small businesses move to Windows Vista.

Taking risks is a part of every small business, but making the move to the Windows Vista operating system isn't one of them. When you buy a new PC with Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate, you'll receive free support, compatibility assistance, and one-on-one coaching from Microsoft to help ensure a smooth transition.

This offer will continue through May 31st, 2009, and is for small business customers who purchase PCs with Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate after July 1, 2008.

Introducing the Windows Compatibility Center

Sometimes it's hard to know what's compatible and what's not. Look to this extensive collection of compatibility information when you upgrade to the Windows Vista operating system. The compatibility center lists and labels thousands of devices and software titles to help you easily identify what will or won't work with the Windows Vista operating system. And when you're ready for a new PC, you'll find the downloads you need to run your favorite software and devices. Call your Dell Sales rep today to confirm you’re ready for Windows Vista.

Service Pack 1 – Pre-installed on Your Vista Install Disc

Microsoft has released Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1), which improves reliability, performance and support for newer hardware and standards.

SP1 is the complete set of Windows Vista updates Microsoft has issued over the past year plus some enhancements to improve your PC's performance. SP1 doesn't add features or require you to learn anything new—it simply helps your PC be more reliable, run smoother, and be even more enjoyable to use. And, with a large (and growing) base of compatible software, hardware and services, SP1 makes Windows Vista a strong foundation for business customers.

• Windows Vista Premium Ready1 PCs include at least 1GB system RAM2 and 128 MB graphics memory3
• To help further optimize the Windows Vista experience, Dell recommends Premium Ready1 PCs be configured with 2 GB dual-channel (2-DIMMs) system RAM, a Dual-Core processor, a 7200 rpm Hard Drive and at least a 256 MB discrete graphics card.

1 Based on currently available information from Microsoft. Requirements subject to change. Windows Vista has not been tested on all user configurations, and may not be compatible with some hardware devices and other software. Dell systems must be configured with a minimum of 512MB system memory (RAM) for "Windows Vista Capable" designation. Systems which meet only minimum requirements for the "Windows Vista Capable" designation will not provide the full benefits of "Premium Ready", including the Aero interface. Some Dell systems may not meet the requirements for "Premium Ready," no matter the configuration. Aero and other premium benefits not available with Windows Vista Home Basic.
Please visit www.windowsvista.com/getready for more information, including complete system requirements.

2 Initial testing indicates that while single channel systems can run Aero, system performance may depend on applications, and minor system or driver changes could affect Aero performance.

3 If the GPU uses shared memory, then no additional graphics memory is required beyond the 1 GB system memory requirement. If the GPU uses dedicated memory, then 128MBminimum is required.Dell recommendations based on Performance Testing from Office of the CTO, Dell, October 20, 2006

Note - Not all Windows Vista™ features are available for use on all Windows Vista Capable PCs. All Windows Vista Capable PCs will run the core experiences of Windows Vista, such as innovations in organizing and finding information, security, and reliability. Some features -- like the new Windows® Aero™ user interface – are only available in premium editions of Windows Vista – and require advanced or additional hardware.
