OpenManage Server Administrator is a highly secure Web tool that enables you to manage an individual server from virtually anywhere, at anytime, without going through a console. So you can determine how much space is left on your disks, what operating system and version is installed, whether you're taking advantage of the latest firmware, drivers, BIOS and drop drivers, how you can diagnose the server without shutting it down, who made a modification to the server last night, and what's installed in the server slots.
With Dell OpenManage Server Administrator, you can monitor the health of a system, access asset and inventory information, analyze logs, update firmware and BIOS and diagnose problems. You can do all of this from an Internet Explorer browser or Command Line Interface. Additionally, it is compatible with Linux, NetWare or Windows Operating Systems.
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator resides completely on the managed server. As a result, administrators do not have to go to a central console when they are notified that a server needs attention. Instead they can use their Web browser to select the server and log in using their domain or Operating System password to perform the following actions:
- Review status
- Configure BIOS settings
- Configure server actions for an event
- Review server inventory and asset information
- Review server configuration, including RAID
- Review hardware, alert, POST, and Server Administrator logs
- Run online diagnostics to isolate problems
- Update BIOS or system firmware as needed
- Shutdown/Restart the server
