OpenManage for Servers - Monitoring

PowerEdge 2850, 2800, and 1850 include a Baseboard Management Controller based on the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 1.5 standard for remote sensor monitoring, fault logging and alerting, sensor and log displays, and server power control. The embedded BMC monitors critical components and environmental conditions such as the fans, the temperature and voltage inside the system. It generates alerts and helps administrators to detect and remedy problems at local and remote locations.

Compliancy with the IPMI 1.5 industry management standard provides additional functionality such as: remote access to the server via serial port or NIC with the ability to power on/off and power reset the system independent of the operating system or application status.
