Step 3: Start Configuring Wireless Security
Configuration of network security must be completed on each system in your wireless peer-to-peer network.

To configure basic security for a wireless peer-to-peer network perform the following steps:
  • Click to place a checkmark in the box next to "Data encryption (WEP enabled)".
  • Click to place a checkmark in the box next to "Network Authentication (Shared mode)".
  • Click to uncheck the box next to "The key is provided for me automatically".

Note:
  • The network key is similar to a password, except that the network key does not have to be entered every time the computer (or network) is accessed.
  • The network key must be either 5 characters long or 13 characters long.
  • The network key is case-sensitive. For example, a network key of abcde is not the same as Abcde. The network key must be entered exactly the same on each computer joining the network. Otherwise, no data transfer will take place.
