The new Dell PrecisionTM Workstation 370 provides next-generation technologies in a very powerful single processor workstation. This system is designed specifically to meet the performance requirements of customers running demanding applications for the complex workstation industry. Independent Software Vendor (ISV) certification helps ensure that applications run powerfully and efficiently and Dell tuning in demanding workstation environments helps to ensure flawless compatibility with each ISV application.
The 370 system comes in mini-tower and desktop configurations that include up to 3.6 GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 800 MHz processors with Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T). Customers also have options for up to 4 GB* of ECC Dual Channel DDR2 533 MHz memory, which provides higher reliability and up to five percent increased performance in compute intensive benchmarks compared with DDR2 400 MHz non-ECC memory.*
New Technology for Next Generation Performance
The Precision Workstation 370 includes the latest architectural innovations that deliver next-generation, workstation performance today while providing a foundation for advances in the future. DDR2 memory at 533MHz and above increases memory bandwidth and provides a long product life cycle. PCI Express (PCIe) 150 W graphics* can yield up to 4 times the bandwidth of AGP 8x technology for more realistic imaging. Integrated SATA RAID 0 (disk striping) offers high performance storage options that help clear storage bottlenecks. Intel EM64T memory extensions provide more than 4 GB of addressability* so customers can work with the very large data sets of big design, analysis and simulation jobs. This capability is enabled with the availability of 64-bit operating systems (Red Hat® Enterprise Linux WS 3 for Intel EM64T) and applications, and also provides full compatibility with existing 32-bit applications.
Flexible Chassis Options
Optimize workspace using the Precision Workstation 370's mini-tower and desktop chassis options. The desktop chassis is ideal for work environments with limited space and is rack mountable. Both chassis offer two 5.25-inch external bays, one 3.5-inch external floppy drive, and two internal hard drives. A third hard drive can be installed in one of the 5.25-inch external bays. Both chassis support Dell's QuietCase technology, which provides extremely quiet system operation.
