"[Dell Outlet systems] come with the same warranty as a new box, and from what I can tell, most of them are brand new...we estimate that we have saved between $15,000 to $20,000 buying the outlet servers. I have used Dell Outlet for years now for family laptops and computers that I wanted support on with certain family members and it has always worked out the same as if we had purchased the items new. This is our first foray into buying servers from Dell Outlet, and ... it is hard to complain with the amount of savings that is passed along.”

“…. Dell Latitude D430's can be found at the Dell Outlet for as little as $700 now and similar configurations can be found for $900-$1,100 no problem… In the end… the D430 is suitable for any and all office tasks and many people would be perfectly happy with the computing power available in ultraportable notebooks today. Notebooks in this category are largely evaluated on portability, longevity, and build quality. The Dell Latitude D430 definitely managed to excel in all three categories. The laptop has the highest quality build I've ever owned, and the battery life has improved since my last review too. On top of that, I cannot stress enough how much easier a 12.1" system is on a student's backpack (or a business professional's briefcase), and how easy it is to just take the notebook around and be prepared for any situation.”

"I am the ultimate cheapskate; nothing pleases me more than saving a few pennies. Three of the last laptops I've purchased have been bought direct from the manufacturer, have [limited] warranty, include all original software, but they've been refurbished. I've found that you can save anywhere from $100 to $300 and sometimes more! It is important to read the terms on each manufacturer's site as each company may have different definitions and terms regarding their refurbished units"

A Great Secret: Buy Refurbished!
"My primary reason for lusting (geek-wise) after the XT
is it’s a one of a kind machine, for now anyway, supporting capacitive touch
. In short, the XT enables the best of both worlds, an active digitizer and touch.
What held me back was the XT
was pricey, over $3,000. It’s still pricey, though the price has gone down several hundred dollars. Then, I saw in my favorite hangout, the GottaBeMobile forum
, the thread Dell Outlet Refurbs
. Basically, you can buy a refurbished XT for about half the price of a new one, and for all intents and purposes the refurbished XT is as good as new. After my usual dithering, I finally went for it, and ordered the XT."

"Dell has consistently offered a wide variety of refurbished computers
for sale on its outlet site. Dell Outlet's search tools enable you to find laptops by price, memory, processor, and other features. I have found compelling bargains on this site, such as laptops costing nearly $500 less than similarly configured new models in the same line."

"I have been a system builder for a little over 10 years now and a gaming enthusiast for a lot longer. I just recently found an excellent deal on an XPS 420 on the Dell Outlet store and let me just say I am thoroughly impressed. The cosmetics of the system are visually stunning and once I opened the case I was impressed how tidy Dell was with the wiring. I can honestly say I am done with making my own. For the price, and what I received all I can say is "WOW". I couldn't even of built it that cheap. I don't know about the rest of you but Dell Support has been top notch for me. I am never looking back, Dell has a lifetime customer."

Refurbished PCs often give plenty of bang for buck
Arkansas Democrat Gazette, March 2008
"Dell offers a full line of refurbished laptops
on their website, dell.com. look
for Outlet Refurbished laptops
. There you will find a full range of popular models that run
just as reliably as a new machine
for hundreds of dollars less than you would pay
for new versions. This is because Dell refurbished laptops
are inspected for good-as-new quality. The only differences are the red label on the bottom of the unit and a lower price"
"At press time…Dell Outlet was selling a refurbished Vostro 1700 laptop for $700; an identically equipped new model at the main Dell site cost $1363 (or $900 during a limited-time sale)."
