Samsung Blu-ray Disc PlayerOnce you bring your home and plug it in, you’ll see it all in high definition, right? Not quite. There are new HDTV content sources coming all the time, but to watch HDTV, you’ve got to make sure you’re connected to one of them.

HDTV Content SourceResult
Cable & SatelliteCable and Satellite
Cable and satellite are great sources of HDTV. You’ll need the provider’s HD set-top box or other equipment and a subscription that includes access to HDTV channels. Know that there is still a lot of standard-definition content on these high-definition channels, and it won’t look any better on your new HDTV than it did on your old set. Check HD notations in your local listings guide to see which shows are broadcast in high-definition.

Broadcast TelevisionBroadcast Television
If your HDTV has an ATSC tuner, just add an HD antenna to your set and grab high-definition content out of the air for free. Again, check local listings for HD notations to see what’s available in your area.

Record your favorite high-definition broadcasts and watch them later with a Digital Video Recorder (DVR). DVRs can be built into your HDTV, part of your PC or a set-top box from your cable or satellite provider. Consider linking a PC to your home theater to get more space to store recorded content.

Blu-ray Disc
Blu-rayTM  Disc is the way to fully enjoy movies in 1080p — the best HDTV resolution on the market. Consider adding a Blu-Ray™ Disc player to your home theater for an incredible viewing experience. PS3 is also a viable option for Blu-RayTM  media.

DVDsDVDs
Though they aren’t technically high-definition, DVDs will typically look good on your HDTV. For an affordable upgrade, get an upconverting DVD player that automatically upscales source content to high-definition.

Game ConsolesGame Systems
Hook up your HD-optimized game console to your HDTV and you can play games with high-resolution graphics on a widescreen with surround sound to boot. Some game consoles can also play other content sources, such as Blu-RayTM , DVDs, or flash memory.
