The multifunction PowerConnect W-AP104 and W-AP105 are affordable indoor 802.11n access points (APs). Designed for high-density deployments in offices, hospitals, schools and retail stores, the compact APs deliver wire-like performance at data rates up to 300 Mbps.
With 802.11n speed and reliability that is comparable to a wired local area network (LAN), you can use wireless as a primary connection. Network performance is further enhanced with such features as channel bonding, block acknowledgement and multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) radios.
Advanced antenna technology helps increase range and reliability. The W-AP105 features two internal omnidirectional antennas while the W-AP104 features the same radios with support for external antennas.
Access-layer networks of the past are not designed for todays distributed enterprises. Traditionally, network designs have focused on individual ports and physical locations rather than how users and devices can connect to the network.
PowerConnect W-AP104 and W-AP105 APs enable users to securely access the enterprise network with a consistent “always-on” experience. Uniform security and access control policies are applied to users in headquarters, branch offices, home offices or on the road, allowing them to securely connect while remaining centrally managed.
The controller directly controls Dell PowerConnect™ W-Series access points, managing configuration, user connection state and policy enforcement.
The multifunction W-AP104 or W-AP105 can be configured through the Mobility Controller to provide WLAN access with part-time air monitoring plus dedicated air monitoring for wireless intrusion prevention system (IPS) and spectrum analysis, Remote AP (RAP) functionality or secure enterprise mesh. Both APs also feature a 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet “uplink” interface and can operate from standard 802.3af power-over-Ethernet (PoE) sources or a 12-volt DC power supply.
The Dell PowerConnect W-Series Airwave Wireless Management Suite™ (AWMS) is an optional multivendor management tool that efficiently supports mobile users who connect via the wireless LAN as well as wired Ethernet ports. With its easy-to-use interface and user-centric approach, it lets your service desk triage connectivity issues while your valuable network engineering staff focuses on proactive work to optimize the network.
The key to ensuring wire-like performance and reliability is the Dell PowerConnect™ W-Series unique Adaptive Radio Management and spectrum analysis capabilities, which manage both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio bands to help deliver maximum client performance while mitigating any RF interference.
