Tripp Lite's B072-008-1 NetCommander 8-Port Rackmount Cat5 KVM Switch is the smart solution for controlling multiple computers and servers from one monitor, keyboard and mouse. Requiring just 1U of rack space, the B072-008-1 features a rugged housing, premium connectors and superior functionality to ensure trouble-free operation in demanding high-availability environments. The B072-008-1 can control eight servers/computers directly, or up to 128 by cascading additional KVM switches. It is compatible with both PS/2 and USB connections using Tripp Lite B078-101-Series server interface units and inexpensive Cat5 patch cables (available separately). An optional IP remote access unit enables servers/computers to be controlled from any location via LAN, WAN or Internet.

All-in-One Network Management for Critical Systems

The B072-008-1 offers a comprehensive, cost-effective network management solution that installs in 1U of rack space. No server-resident software is required, so server performance and reliability are never compromised. Upgradable firmware fine-tunes compatibility with emerging standards. Servers are connected to the switch using inexpensive Cat5 patch cables, reducing cable clutter and conserving valuable rack space.

Supports Multiple Platforms

The B072-008-1 supports both PS/2 and USB connections (Tripp Lite B078-101-Series server interface units and Cat5 patch cables required; sold separately). Because compatibility is based on common hardware standards rather than system software dependencies, almost any platform can be accommodated. Connect multiple versions of multiple platforms in any combination, including Windows®, Mac®, UNIX®, Linux, Sun and DOS.

Simple, Flexible Network Control

The B072-008-1 is designed to ease multi-server management in data centers, server rooms and other high-density environments. An advanced on screen display (OSD) with high-resolution video up to 1600 x 1200 provides a graphical user interface with management tools including custom port labeling, auto-scanning and panel array mode. Users may also select a connected computer using on-console pushbuttons or keyboard hotkey commands. Two LEDs per KVM port indicate (1) when a computer is connected to a KVM port and powered on, and (2) when a computer is selected.

Control Multiple Computers

The B072-008-1 is capable of controlling up to 128 servers/computers by cascading additional B072-Series KVMs. This gives network managers the flexibility to add capacity when it's needed, accommodating growing data center requirements without disrupting existing equipment.

Access Servers Anywhere with Optional IP Remote Access Capability

The B072-008-1 accepts an optional IP remote access unit (Tripp Lite model B051-000) that provides secure IP remote access to connected servers/computers without requiring additional rack space. IP remote access enables system administration, BIOS-level troubleshooting, GUI application installations, equipment reboots and more to be accomplished from any location using a standard Web browser or multi-platform client software.

Additional KVM Accessories (Sold Separately)

To connect servers/computers to the KVM: one Tripp Lite B078-101-Series server interface unit and one Cat5 patch cable are required per server/computer (see below). To cascade from the B072-008-1: additional B072-008-1 or B072-016-1 KVM switches, server interface units and Cat5 cables; consult the owner's manual for detailed information about cascade configurations.
