When did you join EMC and what roles have you held in your time here?
I joined EMC in 2012, right after I completed my master’s degree in Electrical & Computer engineering. I am a software developer at EMC.
What inspires you about our culture?
At EMC, customer satisfaction is a priority. This concept has inspired me to always give my best in any project. I know I can directly impact our customer’s experience. Also, diversity and inclusion are highly encouraged in the company. We know that a diverse team will deliver innovative ideas and great products.
Are you a member of any affinity circles at EMC? What role have you played or how have you benefitted from them?
I am part of the Hispanic affinity circle at EMC, ELLIT (EMC Leadership Latin Interest Team), and I’ve been the Director of Community Outreach for two years. Since I joined the company four years ago, ELLIT has supported me in numerous ways. I’ve been able to meet fantastic people in the group who have become great friends. Also, I have developed leadership skills which have allowed me to be more confident in my daily job. The fact that I can give back to the community through ELLIT is a fantastic opportunity, too.
What makes you excited about the future possibilities of Dell?
The joining of Dell and EMC will revolutionize the technology industry. I see the merger as a great opportunity for innovators and “out of the box thinkers” to join a movement that will improve people’s lives.
What do you think people interested in working here need to know?
I have been able to combine several roles in my life while working at EMC. I am a happy mother of two little kids, a full time employee and a PhD candidate in engineering. I think no other company allows you to pursue your personal dreams while working for the industry.
After finishing my master’s degree, I received a scholarship to continue with my studies; however, I instead decided to work for EMC, and it has been the best decision I could have possibly made. Working here has allowed me to learn the latest technologies and has opened my eyes to a new world of opportunities.
What role have you played in helping your customers grow and thrive?
In my team we make sure that the customers get a product with minimum possibilities of failures. We test our products in different scenarios, for example, high and low temperatures, vibration, etc., so every piece of the product can resist events such as earthquakes and extreme temperatures. As a software engineer, I write the code that is used to make a successful testing.
What makes this a great place to work?
