Even though the transition of mobile phones into computers has been a long time coming, the sea change in the past couple of years is dramatic, with consumer mobile devices that are so compelling to business users that we are willing to upend the “way we do things around here” to have them in our workplace. Just a couple of years ago, the iPad didn’t exist and the notion of employees using their personal smartphones for corporate email and apps was laughable. Now, according to Forrester, nearly 60 percent of organizations are embracing a “bring your own device,” or BYOD program. And that number is growing every day.
