What email services can I access?
For Microsoft Exchange environments, during an outage you will have full access to your contacts, calendars, distribution lists, global address lists and historical email, making the outage virtually invisible to the outside world. In Lotus Notes environments, users will be able to send and receive email.

Will my end users be able to send and receive messages using Microsoft Outlook?
In Microsoft Exchange environments, end users can send and receive email using Outlook®. With Lotus Notes, end users can use a web interface to send and receive email.

How do I activate Dell EMS Email Continuity?
When an outage occurs, you can activate the service by phone or a secure web-based interface. Dell EMS Email Continuity will be up and running within minutes.

I have locations all over the world. Do I need to activate EMS for all users worldwide for every outage, or can I activate those users affected by the outage?
Microsoft Exchange customers can activate Dell EMS Email Continuity by user, office or server — or across your entire global organization.

After a primary system outage, when my server is up and running, how do I recover the data collected during the activation of the service?
EMS automatically moves all sent, received and deleted email back to the primary system easily. All forensic information remains intact.

Are BlackBerry devices supported?
Yes. During Exchange server outages, BlackBerry devices with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 or later will operate even if your BES server is down. EMS can be globally deployed and requires no end-user installation, configuration or activation.

Does Dell EMS Email Continuity offer enterprise-class security?
Yes. EMS employs strong-key encryption, secure transport and a customer-specific key for storage. It fully integrates with Windows® Authentication and does not require a virtual private network (VPN) or dedicated network to secure email.

Does Dell provide email encryption for email in transit?
Yes. In addition to the email stored in our data centers being encrypted as part of our EMS Email Continuity and EMS Email Archive services, through Dell’s partnership with Symantec™, EMS Email Security provides boundary encryption, which encrypts the entire email connection between your organization and designated partners. For an additional cost, EMS Email Security can also provide policy-based email message encryption for outbound email that is cost-effective and easy-to-deploy.

Is Dell EMS Email Continuity difficult to deploy?
No. EMS can be fully deployed and tested in less than a day, even for companies with 10,000 employees or more.

Do you comply with RIM security?
EMS maintains all essential RIM security functionality, including 3DES encryption.
