Help Me Choose: LCDs
|Screen resolution measures the number of pixels on a display. The resolution 1080 is actually 1920x1080 pixels, or 1,920 pixels wide by 1,080 pixels high, and is considered Full HD (high definition). However, any screen with a height of 720 pixels or more qualifies as HD. All Alienware™ laptop displays are at least 720p. |
Higher resolution screens display sharper images. While a 1440x900 display can support HD television broadcasts without compressing the image, it cannot show Blu-ray movies at Full HD resolution.
In games, higher resolutions provide you with more visual information, expanding your field of view and providing an advantage over opponents with lower resolution displays.
WLED (white LED) is the standard for most screens, and it means that a white colored light is providing the light for your screen. RGB LED (red, green, blue LED) means that there are three lights — red, blue and green — providing the lighting for your screen. RGB LED provides a richer color experience. What Are Wide XGA+ and Wide Ultra XGA?
