Help Me Choose: Wireless Cards
Wireless cards enable you to connect to the world around you. The type of wireless card you choose impacts how fast and at what range you can connect your computer to the internet.
The latest wireless standards are the standard with Dell notebooks
WiFi cards are based on the global 802.11 standards and enable laptops and other devices to connect to the internet and each other. Today most Dell notebooks ship with built-in 802.11n WiFi cards, which are fully backward compatible with previous versions of wireless standards and routers.
All 802.11 wireless cards offered by Dell have been certified by the WiFi Alliance.
WiFi cards require a certified wireless router with an internet connection to connect to the World Wide Web. So if you don’t already have a router connection set up in your home, you may want to consider adding a wireless router to your laptop purchase today.
802.11n wireless cards are available as either single band 2.4GHz or dual band 2.4 and 5GHz options.
5GHz requires a 5GHz capable wireless router and is recommended for areas where there is high congestion from other wireless routers, microwaves and cordless phones.
