Would I have to travel?

Yes. The location of your assignment depends on where your skills are most needed. We are large enough, though, that we can sometimes regionalize assignments.

What is the typical travel schedule?

You'll spend Monday - Thursday onsite and Friday in your home office. Typically, the consultant travels to the client on Monday and works the afternoon onsite, followed by three full days onsite with travel back to their home Thursday evening. Occasionally travel varies based on client and project demands.

What does Dell provide for consultants?

All traveling consultants are provided with a laptop, mobile phone, and corporate American Express card. In addition, new employees receive a $500 stipend to assist in purchases related to their home or mobile office needs. These items will be presented to the employee during orientation.

Does Dell provide financial support for ongoing education?

Yes. Dell reimburses team members up to $3,000 per person per year for education. In addition, the Healthcare Consulting group invests significant time and resources into additional educational opportunities.

Does Dell provide continuous education/training to its associates?

Yes. The Healthcare Consulting group makes a significant effort to support continued learning opportunities. A few examples include practice-specific vendor trainings for employees, monthly educational sessions, webinars, a complex e-learning repository, yearly educational retreats and much more.

What are my opportunities to advance?

Specific career paths are provided to each associate. Semi-annual development plans are collaboratively produced between the associate and manager to ensure that clearly defined and measurable goals are set and can be accounted for during the evaluation process. The Healthcare Consulting group has a successful history of promoting from within and providing long-term career opportunities for staff.

How are new engagements acquired and assigned?

The Dell sales effort is a highly effective collaboration between your manager, the Dell sales team and the consultant. Some of the factors considered in selecting an assignment include the alignment of skills, timing, business needs, location, and alignment with personal and professional needs.

What should I expect if I am on the bench?

The Dell Healthcare Consulting Group has a unique approach to keeping the entire bench staff engaged. We view this as an opportunity rather than a cause for concern. If a personal development opportunity is not immediately available for a consultant, then a consulting resource coordinator works to align each consultant with an internal project or event. These efforts could be focused on staff education, practice development, methodologies, new service line development, sales or other topics that will advance Dell's consulting practice and the consultant's exposure to new topics and education.
