FACE and Dell Youth Learning: Bridging France’s Schools and Businesses, Developing Tomorrow’s Professionals
Partnership. It’s a powerful word. It becomes even more impressive when it’s put into action. Such partnerships are the essence of the Fondation Agir Contre l’Exclusion’s (FACE) success.
For more than 16 years, FACE has partnered with schools and businesses in France to fight against exclusion and discrimination — practices that limit employment, housing and health opportunities. For the FACE organization, this means getting involved with and supporting the economic, social and institutional players in a way that teaches and empowers students of all ages.
The program works with 38 business clubs — bringing together more than 3,500 businesses — to create an awareness of different professions and the expectations each carries. With this knowledge, the students have a greater understanding of various employment options and can then become more involved in those businesses.
Dell is one of the businesses making a difference in the students’ lives. FACE’s Tremplin 3eme pilot program, funded by a Dell Youth Learning grant, is targeted at keeping young people in school and making the employment market more accessible. Through this grant, 1,550 youth in their final year of junior high school have the opportunity to further develop positive attitudes relating to business, training and employment. With a Dell-powered computer lab, Tremplin 3eme students will benefit from increased access to information, internships and multimedia technology. Tremplin 3eme is another way in which FACE is bridging schools and businesses — giving youth from underprivileged neighborhoods a stronger foundation to go into the world.
"Dell is allowing us to innovate and reinforce the FACE objectives in schools located in deprived areas. Now more than 1,550 young students will benefit from reinforcing a positive orientation toward training and jobs. They will be better prepared for the world of work," said Vincent Baholet, FACE delegate general. "The Dell partnership demonstrates the social commitment of firms, and with the success of this pilot, we will then be able to develop the program on a national level."
It’s about partnerships. It’s about working together to improve the lives of those around us. Dell Youth Learning is proud to partner with FACE in this journey to develop tomorrow’s professionals.
