• New SonicPoint Series wireless access points provide small- to medium-sized organizations with enterprise-level wireless performance at a disruptively low total cost of ownership
  • Wireless Network Security solutions combine SonicPoints with Dell SonicWALL next-generation firewalls, ensuring wireless networks are secure from both internal and external threats
  • Dell SonicWALL firewalls automatically detect and provision SonicPoints, and push appropriate security updates and policies to ensure enterprise-class security, simplifying management and helping to lower TCO

Dell today introduced the new SonicPoint AC Series of wireless access points, which supports the high-performance IEEE 802.11ac wireless standard to deliver almost three times that of the last wireless standard (802.11n). SonicPoints combine with industry-leading deep packet inspection security from Dell SonicWALL next-generation firewalls to form a comprehensive wireless network security solution. This combination enables small- and mid-sized organizations to leverage enterprise-class wireless performance and security, while dramatically simplifying wireless network setup and management for a low total cost of ownership.

New SonicPoint AC Series enables small- and mid-sized organizations to provide optimal wireless performance with the same level of security as a wired network

The SonicPoint AC Series includes the SonicPoint ACe, which features dual radio functionality, six removable external antennas, dimmable LEDs and the flexibility to receive power over an AC adapter or 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) Injector, and the SonicPoint ACi, which has dual radios, internally housed antennas, dimmable LEDs and receives power through an 802.3at PoE Injector.

This enterprise-level performance enables WiFi-ready devices to connect from greater distances, and use bandwidth-intensive mobile apps, such as video and voice, in higher-density environments with virtually no signal degradation.

The Dell SonicWALL Wireless Network Security solution also offers:

  • Comprehensive security In addition to intrusion prevention, SSL decryption and inspection, content filtering and application control technologies that provide protection against the latest threats, the Dell SonicWALL Wireless Network Security solution also integrates additional security-related features including Wireless Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Virtual Access Points (VAPs), Wireless Guest Services, and Cloud Access Control.
  • Easy setup - Dell SonicWALL Wireless Network Security solutions greatly simplify deployment and setup, while reducing total cost of ownership (TCO). Integrated into every Dell SonicWALL firewall is a wireless controller that auto-detects and auto-provisions SonicPoints across the network.
  • Centralized management Ongoing management and monitoring of SonicPoints and security are handled centrally through the Dell SonicWALL firewall, providing network administrators with a single pane of glass from which to manage all aspects of the network – both wired and wireless.

In addition, for those organizations that have a substantial long-term investment in the 802.11n wireless standard, the Dell SonicPoint N2 features high-speed 802.11n wireless connectivity, dual radios, six external antennas and all the other advantages offered by Dell SonicWALL Wireless Network Security solutions.

Patrick Sweeney, executive director, Dell Security

"When we access a wireless network, we expect it to be high-performing and secure — whether that network originates from a coffee shop or a Fortune 100 company — and this increased expectation puts a lot of pressure on smaller businesses to provide an exceptional wireless experience that is secure. With the new SonicPoint AC Series, these SMBs can take advantage of the improved wireless performance offered by the new 802.11ac standard, and know that their network is fully secured. Combine this with a low total cost of ownership, and our customers can be confident that their wireless network is a competitive advantage they don’t have to worry about. They can just focus on their most important job — ensuring their business is successful."

Gery Pollet, founder and CEO, Zapfi

"We know it’s critical to be able to provide our employees and customers with wireless access that is both dependable and secure; however, we need to do so in a way that won’t require costly set-up, deployment and maintenance. Dell SonicPoints enable us to provide the high-performing wireless access we need quickly and easily, and without having to constantly worry about whether or not this access is secure. In addition, we don’t need to buy a separate wireless access controller to manage the SonicPoints, as this is built into the Dell SonicWALL firewall, which saves us both time and money."

Deepak Thadani, president, SysIntegrators, LLC

"Our customers need to be able to provide their employees with dependable wireless access – it’s no longer a ‘nice to have.’ But even the best wireless access is meaningless if it isn’t secured – and smaller businesses are often susceptible to a wireless attack or significant data breach with the potential cost not just in lost revenue, but also in lost reputation, something that’s difficult to repair. With Dell SonicPoints, our customers benefit from the latest applications and services while ensuring their data is secure. Dell SonicPoints have helped us to maintain a competitive advantage in the market and have helped diversify our portfolio."

The Dell SonicPoint Series will be available in December 2014.
