- University of Kentucky uses Dell Services to deploy SAP HANA and develop an analytics solution designed to improve student retention
- Dell Services provides assessment, design, development, deployment and maintenance services for SAP HANA
Dell Services recently helped the University of Kentucky deploy SAP HANA and develop a Student Retention Analytics model for analyzing and predicting student graduation likelihood. It is designed to turn information into action by identifying students who show early signs of needing help and by highlighting their specific areas of concern. As a result, the university will now be able to deploy student self-service recommendation tools, review predicted graduation scores and preemptively recommend advisor sessions to students. This scoring model and analytics environment will allow the university to share the insights with key stakeholders, such as students and parents, via opt-in notification systems.
SAP HANA pulls operational information from virtually any data source into a single environment and instantly analyzes events and activities without affecting existing applications or systems.
SAP chose Dell Services as one of its technology partners for Dell’s ability to deliver solutions on a global scale. The combination of SAP HANA and Dell Services provides leading practices and deep industry expertise to help customers stay ahead of their competition with improved agility, increased application availability and real-time data updates.
In addition to existing offerings in support of SAP HANA, Dell Services will be providing:
- 24x7 managed services for SAP HANA
- Configuration of SAP data replication services
- Database migration services in support of migrating from SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse to SAP HANA
- Application development services for SAP HANA, including data integration, data modeling, statistical modeling and performance dashboard/reporting design
“We think in-memory analytics is a game-changing leap forward. Our initial efforts focus on improving our students’ graduation rates. With real-time data at our advisors’ fingertips and personalized, useful information in the hands of our students, we will be able to help students in their academic careers. We can encourage student engagement with the university in ways that were previously not possible. And this is just the beginning of our work,” said Vince Kellen, CIO of University of Kentucky.
“Dell’s work with SAP, as evidenced by the infrastructure being deployed at the University of Kentucky, is part of a larger strategy to provide practical solutions to the complex problems our customers face,” said Jan Uhrich, vice president, Dell Services. "Dell Services capabilities include end-to-end solutions to support SAP applications in order to help reduce IT costs at a time when organizations are challenged to make the most of every IT dollar.”
“SAP is committed to delivering its solutions in an open and flexible way to support customer success,” said Kevin Ichhpurani, senior vice president, Ecosystem and Channels, SAP. “Organizations implementing SAP HANA realize significant return on investment in terms of productivity and competitive knowledge. Dell’s cooperation with SAP in support of SAP HANA with its infrastructure and cloud solutions will benefit customers, helping them to transform their businesses, flexibly and affordably.”
