Dell today announced the new Dell Quickstart Data Warehouse Appliance 1000 that can make it easier for mid-sized organizations to quickly and cost-effectively derive actionable business insights from existing data and make improved business decisions. The affordable, all-inclusive data warehousing solution for mid-market and departmental customers is available to ship today.
“Mid-market organizations, not unlike large enterprises, are challenged by the explosion of data volumes and are looking for better ways to analyze and use this data to gain business insights and stay competitive,” said Ben Linder, executive director, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Dell. “Limited IT resources and budgets have mostly prevented mid-sized organizations from building data warehouses and realizing the insights they need. Dell now offers the mid-market a comprehensive, robust, affordable, and simple data warehouse solution.”
Data Warehouse for the Mid-Market
According to a recent Gartner report, “As part of the answer to a troubled economic environment, the data warehouse has become a central element in information management and analytics for organizations in differentiating their performance relative to their peers.” (1)
Traditionally, data warehouse platforms have been designed for large organizations with sizable staffs. The Dell Quickstart Data Warehouse Appliance is designed for easy installation and fast time to value, allowing organizations, even those with limited resources, to leverage information to make improved, more informed business decisions.
“We appreciate the fact that Dell has configured a comprehensive data warehouse platform that includes Dell Boomi, making it much easier for us to incorporate our data into the larger big data environments of our clients,” said Rich Mellott, President & Technology Strategist at DIGIOP, a company that beta tested the appliance. "This allows us to focus development on advancing DIGIOP ELEMENTS for our Video-Enhanced Intelligence software which, when bundled with Quickstart Data Warehouse Appliance, provides an excellent turnkey solution for our multiple-site and enterprise customers through the Dell channel."
Powered by new Dell PowerEdge 12th generation servers and the new Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Data Warehouse Appliance Edition, the Dell Quickstart Data Warehouse Appliance is a comprehensive software, hardware, and support services solution.
Gartner also notes that, “Organizations expect architecture and implementation leadership from vendors’ professional services and support organizations and/or their partner and distribution channels.” (1)
The Dell Quickstart Data Warehouse Appliance offers a step beyond other data warehouse appliances in the market. It includes Dell Boomi for easy integration of data from any source including cloud and includes start-up and training services to give clients a successful start, as well as quarterly health checks to help ensure ongoing success.
“The Dell Quickstart Data Warehouse Appliance is the first such appliance to market on SQL Server 2012,” said Doug Leland, General Manager, Product Marketing, Microsoft. “The enhanced data warehouse features, such as xVelocity In-memory ColumnStore, which dramatically speeds up query performance, and optimizes resources with data compression, help partners like Dell deliver powerful solutions to mid-market customers.”
