Pathways to Education Canada Works with Dell Powering the Possible to Expand Youth Learning
- Dell grant will provide about 900 youth with access to technology in Toronto’s Regent Park area
- Pathways to Education is the second organization in Canada to benefit from a Powering the Possible grant
Pathways to Education Canada has been selected as a recipient of a Dell Powering the Possible grant. The organization will receive funding in the form of cash grants and technology donations to further its mission to help youth in disadvantaged communities graduate from high school and go on to post-secondary education or training. Pathways to Education Canada is the second organization in Canada to benefit from a Dell Powering the Possible grant. Boys and Girls Club Canada was the first recipient organization.
Specifically, the Powering the Possible grant from Dell will support the Pathways program site in the Regent Park community in Toronto. Two technology centres will be enhanced enabling greater access to technology during afterschool tutoring and mentoring programs. Pathways students will learn hands-on how to interface with various online and Windows-based applications while also learning about digital citizenship, etiquette, social media and security.
In addition to technology solutions, Dell will provide Pathways with the volunteer services of a local Dell champion who will manage employee engagement opportunities with local Dell team members.
“Pathways works with youth in low-income communities to overcome the barriers that can get in the way of completing high school,” said Vivian Prokop, president and CEO of Pathways to Education Canada. “With Dell as our partner, we are making progress in ensuring that technology is a tool our youth can use to enrich their learning and support them in achieving their goals.”
“We know technology can leave a legacy of good, and we are thrilled to be working with Pathways to Education Canada to help them further their overall mission,” said Kevin Peesker, President, Dell Canada Inc. “At Dell, we believe that children should have an opportunity to develop their potential through technology. With this partnership, we are one step closer toward closing the technology gap among underserved communities across the globe.”
