Vietnam - Decision No. 16/2015/QD-TTg dated May 22, 2015 of the Prime Minister on regulations on collection and treatment of discarded products.

- The Decision is in force as of 15 July 2015. The Decision provides regulations on collection and treatment of discarded products within the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Decision shall apply to manufacturers, consumers and other organizations or individuals involved in take-back and treatment of discarded products in Vietnam.

The Decision requires manufacturing enterprises including official importers, official distributors and primary distributors to takeback discarded products i.e. receive and collect discarded products for management and treatment in accordance with legal requirements. The Decision allows manufacturing enterprises and distributors to set up Collection points and receive discarded products at their own location as requested by the manufacturing enterprises. The Decision also prescribes further responsibilities which can be downloaded here.

According to the Decision, the consumers have responsibilities to ensure to return the discarded products to Collection points provided by the manufacturers and they have the rights to request manufacturers to receive their discarded products.
