• The People in our Supply Chain

Bettering the lives of people in our supply chain

    • It takes hundreds of thousands of people worldwide to make our products. We’re committed to upholding the rights of those who make our products and creating positive, safe working environments consistent with standards and assurance practices set out in the Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct.

    • Ensuring appropriate working hours

We require all suppliers to abide by the Responsible Business Alliance standard of a maximum 60-hour work week, at least one rest day and no mandatory overtime – as a minimum – or comply with local laws, whichever is stricter. We’ve also implemented a working hours monitoring program to help us track performance and compliance with our expected standards.

    • Engaging in open, honest dialogue

At Dell Technologies, we maintain open communication between people in our supply chain and their management teams, helping them build trust and positive relationships through ongoing training and open, honest dialogue. We also offer a hotline for supplier employees to contact us directly and express workplace grievances without having to go through their supervisors, providing them with a safe space to express their concerns.

    • Protecting the most vulnerable in society

We do not tolerate any form of forced, bonded, or child labor at any stage in our supply chain. Our Vulnerable Worker Policy helps us protect the most vulnerable and explicitly bans behaviors that may indicate a risk of human trafficking (including forced or bonded labor) or child labor. Our annual Statement Against Slavery and Human Trafficking provides further details on our risks, governance practices and progress.

    • Enriching lives at work and beyond

Many people in our supply chain come from remote provinces in their home countries seeking new opportunities and life experience. We seek to enrich their day-to-day lives as much as possible, creating a freely accessible messaging platform where we publish content helping them develop new hobbies and explore new career skills.

    • Advancing safe working conditions at every stage of our supply chain

    • When it comes to workers, whether in-house or at a supplier’s facility, nothing is more important than their health and safety. We’re committed to creating safe environments for workers across our supply chain, minimizing risks and having the right procedures in place to avoid or resolve issues quickly.

    • Our manufacturing facilities

Our manufacturing facilities are OHSAS 18001 certified and we require our suppliers’ final assembly facilities to have OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 certification. Non-final assembly facilities are encouraged to have those certifications as well.

    • Responsible electronics production

Dell Technologiesis an active contributor to the Responsible Business Alliance’s Chemical Management Taskforce as well as being a leading member of Green America’s Clean Electronics Production Network.

    • Safe use of chemicals

Our Manufacturing Process Chemicals Program allows us to strictly manage the handling of hazardous materials across our entire supply chain. Our suppliers adhere to clear guidelines detailing the precautionary measures, trace chemical approval processes and regular risk assessments.

    • Occupational hazard audits

We conduct regular audits assessing occupational hazards across our supply chain in combination with routine employee surveys to raise awareness of health and safety issues amongst our workforce. We also offer a dedicated mobile training program featuring targeted courses and information on important health and safety topics.

    • Sourcing minerals responsibly, ethically and sustainably

    • Minerals are an important component of many Dell Technologies products. While we do not purchase minerals directly from mines, smelters or refiners, our expectations for responsible sourcing extend throughout our supply chain. We offer publicly available information on our mineral sourcing practices in our Responsible Minerals Sourcing Report.

    • Responsible mining and mineral sourcing

We collaborate with peers, suppliers and other stakeholders to address risks associated with mining operations in conflict-affected and high-risk areas and help ensure the human rights of all who work in those communities are upheld. Dell Technologies also helped create the Responsible Minerals Initiative.

    • Conflict-free mining and economic growth

We work diligently to uphold conflict-free mining in our supply chain and are committed to supporting peaceful economic growth in regions that practice responsible mining. We work with suppliers and provide training to break down common misconceptions surrounding areas that are impacted by conflict mining, such as the Democratic Republic of Congo.
