How do I create backup discs with Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0?

This article describes the steps necessary to create your system recovery discs with Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0. Dell no longer ships operating system disks with new systems. You may create these disks using Dell Backup and Recovery or Dell DataSafe Local.


In Windows 7

To create your Recovery Discs, you will need one or more blank DVDs and your computer must have a DVD burner installed.

  1. Click Start  then click  All Programs, click  Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 and click  Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0.

  2. Video (English Only) - How to Create System Recovery Media in Dell DataSafe Local

  3. Click  Create My Recovery Disc(s) Now then click Next.

  4. Insert a blank DVD in the DVD burner, click Next and follow the prompts provided as the Recovery Disc creation takes place.

  5. After the disc(s) have been created, click Finish.

In Windows 8

In DataSafe Local Backup Basic:

  1. Launch Dell DataSafe Local Backup

  2. Click Backup and then Full System Backup.

  3. Follow the instructions on the screen.

In DataSafe Local Backup Professional, you can also launch File and Folder Local Backup:

  1. Launch Dell Datasafe Local Backup.

  2. Click Backup and then File & Folder Local Backup.

  3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
