Description of the Dell A425 Speaker System

The Dell A425 is a 2.1 speaker system. The 2.1 designation refers to the two satellite speakers and one subwoofer. (Figure 1)

Install the Dell™ A425 Speaker System

Placement Of The Speakers

  1. Place the front speakers beside the monitor.
  2. Place the subwoofer on either the desk or the floor.

    Do not block the vents. Leave 4" of space behind the subwoofer.

Connecting Up The Speaker System

To connect the Dell™ A425 Speaker System, perform the following steps:

  1. Ensure that the computer and speakers are turned off.
  2. Connect the satellites to the subwoofer.
  3. Ensure that the yellow DB9 connector is properly seated and held in with the thumbscrews. (Figure 1)

  4. Set the subwoofer level control to the midpoint.
  5. Connect the speaker audio input cable to the audio input port on the sound card of the computer.

    The green cable is color-coded to match the audio input port on the back of Dell™ desktop systems.

  6. Plug the speaker power cord into a wall outlet.
