Restoring from a Backup Using DataSafe Local Backup 2.0
To recover a backup from within Windows:
Click Start, then click All Programs, click Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 and click Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0.
Click Restore my files.
Select the type of restore you wish to perform from the following options:
Restore your entire system to a previous date restores your computer to the state it was in as of the backup performed on the date you specify.
Restore specific files or folders from a System Backup restores only the files/folders you select from the System Backup. (Needs to have its own walkthrough.)
Restore individual files from File & Folder Backups restores some or all the files and folders backed up in a Files & Folders Backup.
Select the date of the backup you wish to restore from then click Next.
Confirm your selections.
If you are restoring from a System Backup, you will be prompted to Restart your computer. If you are restoring from a Files & Folders Backup, you will be prompted to Finish.
To recover a backup if Windows is unable to load:
Turn on the computer and press the F8 key when the Dell Logo appears.
From the Advanced Boot Options highlight Repair Your Computer with the arrow keys and press ENTER.
Click Next and login to your administrator account on the computer. The administrator account is the account created the first time the computer was turned on.
Click Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe options.
Dell DataSafe Local will load. To keep the files you created or changed since the backup, click Preserve new or changed files before restoring to selected System Backup. If you choose to recover the system without keeping your data, click Restore without preserving new or changed files.
If you selected to preserve your data files in Step 5, read the information that appears regarding the files to be preserved, then click Next. Otherwise, continue to Step 10.
Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 will scan for and display new files on your computer since the backup was created. Select the types of files you wish to preserve.
If you only wish to preserve one or more specific files, click Advanced File and Folder Selection.
Browse to and select the specific files or folders you want to preserve.
Once you have made your selections, click Next.
Select the location you wish to preserve the files to, then click Next.
A summary screen will display your selections. Confirm your selections and click Next to begin the file backup process. Your preserved files will be saved to the location you selected. Once complete, click Next to continue to the system backup recovery.
To begin the recovery, click Yes, then click Next.
Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 will restore your computer to the previous backup. Click Restart once its completed to restart the computer.
