What is happening?

Upon launching Skyrim the following error will be displayed:

TESV.exe System Error: The program can't start because X3DAudio1_7.dll is missing from your computer


Reason

The missing file is part of DirectX 10 which may not be installed in the system.

Solution

Follow the steps below to correct this error:

1. Uninstall the game

2. Download the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer by clicking here.

3. Click the Download button on this page to start the download, or choose a different language from the drop-down list and click Go.

4. Do one of the following:

a. To start the installation immediately, click Open or Run this program from its current location.

b. To copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save or Save this program to disk.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions

6. Reinstall the Game (If needed)
