How to open the side panel of the Alienware X51 system

Safety precautions:

 

-        Turn off the system and any attached peripherals.

-        Disconnect the system and any attached peripherals from AC power, and then remove the battery.

-        Disconnect any telephone or telecommunications lines from the system.

-        Use a wrist grounding strap and mat when working inside any computer system to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.

-        After removing any system component, carefully place the removed component on an anti-static mat.

-        Wear shoes with non-conductive rubber soles to help reduce the chance of being shocked or seriously injured in an electrical accident.

Solution

1.       Locate the Left Side Cover.

 

2.      Remove the screw securing the Left Side Cover to the System Chassis.

 

3.      Carefully and gently push the Left Side Cover towards the front of the system. Exert enough force to just release the Left Side Cover.

 

WARNING:

Exert enough force to release the Left Side Cover, Do not pull the cover away from the System Chassis since the lighting board cable needs to be removed.

 

 

4.     Carefully flip the Left Side Cover towards the top of the chassis.

 

5.      Disconnect the Lighting Board cable.

              6.     Remove the Left Side Cover from the System Chassis.

 

            7.      Complete.
