How to remove the front plastic cover on the Alienware X51?

1. Safety precautions

 

-        Turn off the system and any attached peripherals.

-        Disconnect the system and any attached peripherals from AC power.

-        Disconnect any peripherals from the unit.

-        Disconnect any telephone or telecommunications lines from the system.

-        Use a wrist grounding strap and mat when working inside any computer system to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.

-        After removing any system component, carefully place the removed component on an anti-static mat.

-        Wear shoes with non-conductive rubber soles to help reduce the chance of being shocked or seriously injured in an electrical accident. 

 

Disassembly

 

1.       Remove the left side cover.

2.      Remove the video card cage assembly

3.      Remove the hard drive.

a.      For instructions on how to remove the hard drive go to the following link:

 

4.     Remove the optical drive.

5.      Remove the right side cover.

a.      For instructions on how to remove the right side cover go to the following link:

 

 

6.     Locate the Front Bezel.

 

 

7.      Disconnect the Power Button cable and the Alien Head lighting cable from the Front I/O board.

 

 

8.     Grasp and release the front bezel tabs on the left side. First release the lower tab, followed by the two top ones.

  

 

9.     Flip the system to view the right side.

 

 

 

10.  Grasp and release the front bezel tabs on the right side. First release the lower tab, followed by the two top ones.

 

 

11.   Unroute the Power Button cable and Alien Head cables through the routing gaps.

 

 

12.  Remove the Front Bezel from the System Chassis. 

 

13.  Complete!
