Alienware M17x R3: AlienHead light stays on when closing the Lid

The following article will help you understand and resolve the problem where the AlienHead stays on when closing the LCD lid.

 

What is happening?  

 

The LCD panel used on FHD and 3D LCD configurations requires additional power from the motherboard to support the AlienHead lightning located on the LCD cover.

 

 

Solution

 

In order to resolve the issue, you need to configure the power actions for the LCD as follows:

 

1. Select the option “Choose what closing the lid does” under the Power Options of the Control Panel.

 

 

 

 

2. Under “When I close the lid”, select “Sleep” or “Hibernate”.

 

3. Click Save Changes.
