Dell Wyse Hardware - How to change the initial boot order


The Default boot order is setup as LAN, USB and IDE, so if you have a USB device, it will try to boot from it first.

To change the boot order, for the SX0 series, 3150SE, follow these steps:
  1. Power the thin client down.
  2. Press and hold the <Delete> key.
  3. Power up the thin client while holding the <Delete> key.
  4. Enter "Fireport" (case sensitive) as the password.
  5. Press the down arrow to the Boot Order Configuration section, and select number 2.
  6. Press the <Enter> key to cycle through and select IDE. You will get a "Conflict" message. IGNORE IT.
  7. Press the down arrow and press the <Enter> key to select USB. the "Conflict" message should disappear.
  8. Press the <X> key to save the new configuration and exit.
For the V Series and 941GXL follow these steps:
  1. Power the thin client down.
  2. Press and hold the <Delete> key.
  3. Power up the thin client while holding the <Delete> key.
  4. Enter "Fireport" (case sensitive) as the password.
  5. Press the down arrow to the Advanced BIOS Features section, and press the <Enter> key.
  6. Press the down arrow and change the Second Boot Device to read Hard Disk.
  7. Press the down arrow and change the Third Boot Device to read USB-FDD.
  8. Press the <F10> key and press the <Y> key to save the new configuration and exit.

    Note: You can change the boot order to any way you want, however, keep in mind that if you use Wyse Device Manager (WDM) PXE may be required for proper operation, and must be the First Boot Device.
