Terminal Server Sessions: Remote vs Local.

When using a terminal session, you may notice that you can not select "Backup Local Registry" from NT Backup or be able to configure anything under IIS 4.0 even though you can perform both tasks locally. This is due to these and other programs making calls to the %SystemRoot% variable.
When locally connected to the server, %SystemRoot% points to the \WTSRV directory, but when connected remotely through a terminal session, the %SystemRoot% points to the user`s Profile directory. This results in the Terminal Server`s major selling point: centralized administration and low-level security. There is no work-around for this feature.
