SAS5/e driver in Suse Linux Service Pack 1 does not perform failback operation

Problem With Native SAS 5/e Drivers Failback Operation

The native SAS5/e driver in Suse Linux Enterprise Server Service Pack 1 (SLES10 SP1) does not perform the failback operation properly.

New SAS 5/e Driver

During failover, the native SAS 5/e driver successfully transfers the virtual LUNs from the failed controller to the functional controller. After repairing the failed controller, the failback operation does not succeed. The net result is that the virtual LUNs are all owned by one controller. The SAS 5/e driver permanently resolves the issue. A workaround can also be performed to resolve the issue.

Run mppBusRescan

The mppBusScan utility is a standalone utility that is located in the same directory as mppUtil and can be used to re-establish the paths to the repaired controller. To run the utility, type ./mppBusRescan.
