This article provides the information on "How to upgrade to Windows 10 using the Microsoft Windows 10 Media Creation Tool".

Windows 10 upgrade via Windows Update fails.

NOTE: The Windows 10 free upgrade program has ended. Systems that were not previously upgraded during the free upgrade period will be subject to purchasing a Windows 10 License from Microsoft during the upgrade process.

NOTE: If you choose to buy a Windows 10 upgrade from Microsoft, you are still required to complete a Windows 10 upgrade from either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 on a system before attempting a clean installation of Windows 10.

Once a system has been upgraded to Windows 10 and registered, then the system can have a clean installation of Windows 10 installed, without following the update process.

The media creation tool can be used to upgrade your current PC to Windows 10 or to create a USB or DVD and install Windows 10 on a different PC. Microsoft has a step by step process to allow you to upgrade to Windows 10 using the media creation tool.

Click the Hyperlink below to download and run the tool:

Once you open the link, click the SHOW ALL link to see all the instructions for running the upgrade on the system you are on or how to create a DVD or USB Key to run the upgrade on another system.

NOTE: When booting to the DVD or USB key, you still must run the UPGRADE to Windows 10 if the system has not been previously registered with the version Windows 10 you are installing.
