1. Removal Guide

These guides will take you step by step through the safe removal of what are considered to be the Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) parts of a Latitude E7450 system. (CRUs are the parts of the system that shouldn't need an engineer to remove or replace.)

The guides will also include pictures to reference what's involved.

2. Removal Instructions

Required Tools

1 Small Phillip's head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small Flat head screwdriver

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the Battery :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Slide the battery release latch (1) into the unlock position and lift the battery up and over (2) the front edge of the system.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the Main Access Panel :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Remove the two (2) screws securing the bottom cover in place.

  1. Slide the Bottom Door towards the front of the system.

  1. Remove the Bottom Door from the system.

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Keyboard Trim :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Carefully pry up the top edge of the keyboard trim.

  1. Work your way around the sides and bottom edge of the keyboard trim.

  1. Remove the keyboard trim from the system.

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Keyboard :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Peel away the mylar cover.

  1. Disconnect the keyboard backlight cable (1), the keyboard cable (2), the trackstick cable (3) and the trackstick backlight cable (4).

  1. Remove the five (5) screws securing the keyboard to the system.

  1. Take care in lifting up the bottom edge and right hand side to un-locate the tabs.

  1. Take care in lifting up the bottom edge and left hand side to un-locate the tabs.

  1. Lift the keyboard towards the LCD assembly to pull the cables through the gap.

  1. Remove the keyboard from the system.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the SD Memory :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Press the SD memory card in to release it.

  1. Pull the card out of the system.

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Memory DIMM(s) :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Pull the retention clips apart and away from the memory module.

  1. Remove the memory module from the system.

Note: Please repeat steps 3 and 4 to remove any further memory modules from the system.
  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Solid State Drive (SSD UMA Graphics):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Use the tab to disconnect the SSD cable from the motherboard.

  1. Remove the three (3) screws securing the mSATA SSD in place.

  1. Remove the mSATA SSD assembly.

4

  1. Disconnect and remove the mSATA SSD cable from the mSATA adaptor board.

  1. Remove the screw (1) securing the mSATA SSD in place.

  1. Remove the mSATA SSD.

  1. Remove the two (2) screws at the top of the bracket securing the adaptor board in place.

  1. Flip the bracket over and remove the two (2) screws at the bottom of the bracket securing the adaptor board in place.

  1. Remove the mSATA adaptor board.

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Solid State Drove (Discrete Graphics) :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Remove the single screw securing the mSATA SSD.

  1. Remove the mSATA SSD from the system.

  1. The removal is complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Use the tab to disconnect the hard drive cable from the motherboard.

  1. Remove the three (3) screws securing the hard drive assembly in place.

  1. Remove the hard drive bracket.

4

  1. Remove the hard drive assembly.

5

  1. Disconnect and remove the hard drive cable.

6

  1. Peel off and remove the hard drive isolations from both sides.

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the System Cooling Fan :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Disconnect the fan from the motherboard.

  1. Remove the two (2) screws securing the fan in place.

3

  1. Remove the fan from the system.

4

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the SIM Card :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Push the SIM card in to release it from the slot.

  1. Pull the card out of the system.

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the Cellular WWAN Card :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Disconnect any antennas connected to the WWAN card.

  1. Remove the screw (1) securing the WWAN card.

  1. Remove the WWAN card from the system.

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the Wi-Fi WLAN Card :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Remove the screw (1) securing the WLAN card in place.

  1. Remove the WLAN bracket.

3

  1. Disconnect any antennas connected to the WLAN card.

  1. Remove the WLAN card from the system.

  1. Complete.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the CMOS Coin Cell Battery :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets

    4. Please remove the Battery and the Bottom Door.

  2. Establishing image.

  1. Pry the coin cell battery away from the adhesive.

  1. Disconnect the coin cell battery from the motherboard and remove the coin cell battery from the system.

3

  1. Complete.
