Instructions for How to configure the dip switch on the Dell™ PowerVault™ 100T DDS4 tape drive to work with a Novell® operating system. Novell 4.11 or 4.2 There are two possible ways to configure the PowerVault 100T to work with Novell 4.11 or 4.2, depending on which tape driver you use. Configuration 1 If you are using the existing Novell TAPEDAI.DSK driver or a version of the NWTAPE.CDM driver created before 11/3/99, you must change the Operating-System Configuration Dip switches so that switches 5 and 8 (OS1 and OS4) are OFF. This is different from their default settings (all switches ON). Configuration 2 If you use the latest Novell NWTAPE.CDM driver (available to download and install from http://support.novell.com), the Operating-System Configuration Dip switches should be left in their default positions (all switches ON). If you’d like to update the driver, follow these instructions: NOTE: To use NWTAPE.CDM the SCSI controller driver must be a .HAM file and not a .DSK file. Novell 5.x There are two possible ways to configure the Power Vault 100T to work with Novell 5.x, depending on which tape driver you use. Configuration 1: If you are still using the original Novell NWTAPE.CDM driver or any version created before 11/3/99, you must change the Operating-System Configuration Dip switches so that switches 5 and 8 (OS1 and OS4) are OFF. This is different from their default settings (all switches ON). Configuration 2: If you use the latest Novell NWTAPE.CDM driver (available at http://support.novell.com), the Operating-System Configuration Dip switches can be left in their default positions (all switches ON). If you’d like to update the driver, follow these instructions: The information contained in the above article consists of excerpts from The Addendum DDS-4 Installation Manual provided by Seagate.
